.... continuing from the end of the Nha Trang blog, here are some more of the wonderful sand dunes of Mui Ne, of which it's famous for. Mui Ne is based around a little fishing village and as you'll see, I was right on the spot one evening when the fishermen came back with their catch.
This is one of those 'long arm' shots of Elvis and I after climbing one of the sand dunes.
We hired a motorbike and went gallivanting around the place. We got back just in time because Vietnam is just coming into the rainy season and on the night it rained like Billy-oh! Not motorbike weather. The food here is so good. We had a bbq 2kg snapper caught that day for only 3 pound. Twas delish!
There's 6km of beach here, ideal for a stroll or just a little lie around. More of the latter less of the former!
If you confidently lie on a sunbed like you own the place then you don't get asked 'are you staying at this hotel Madam' and you get a bed for free. It worked for the first day, but they were on their 'mettle' the next day and caught us at it!!
Have a look at these fishing boats. They're exactly like woven baskets but obviously bigger. How they don't let water in is beyond us! I just happened to be walking along when the fishermen were coming in with their catches of squid. I even got invited over to watch the make shift market and the bidding and selling going on - fantastic!
So here's the squid being weighed out and if you look at the hands you can see the money being handed over. This buyer was from one of the local restaurants.
It never fails to amaze me how the sea provides so much food. There were huge baskets of these squid brought in and they do this every day of the week! Paul Sandersfield, no white cod here son - you'd have to learn how to exit your comfort zone and get a bit of fried calamari down your neck!!
This is me - doing one of those - 'here I am - another day suffering in paradise' kind of poses!
Almost all kinds of produce is sold on the beach, however, it's usually something that comes out of the sea, what exactly a cow is doing on the beach is beyond us! The final deal here was:-
Woman on right - 'I'll take the cow and the boy for 30 dollars'
Mother on the left - Done!
After all this recharging of the batteries it was back on the bus - destination SAIGON and our last stop in Vietnam. But don't be a hog, that's for another blog!
