Redwoods (Bloody big trees if you're from Sunderland)

Back from Crater Lake and now in the state of California - Cool Dude (as everyone seems to be saying)! The trees and the forest are awesome (more California speak!), very 'Lord of the Rings' like - it's difficult to show the scale of them with a picture - but the last picture may give you some idea - that's me standing inside the trunk of a redwood. Here's a strange thing - did you know the bark of a Redwood is soft? It's like the texture of cork.

We went for a few walks around the Redwoods and managed to get lost! Fortunately someone helped us back to the road before it got dark. We also managed to collect a few fallen branches for the camp fire - so far we are doing quite well in NOT having to buy any firewood - burning Redwoods is a bit extravagant though, how many people eat Salmon baked over redwood? (I may open a restaurant).

The Redwood park is massive - and some of these trees started life at the same time that Jesus was born - apparently there's no signs of them dying either. We camped at two different places while we were here - the campsites were amazing, right amongst the biggest trees you've ever seen, coast redwood trees can grow to more than 370 ft! The narrow strip of California coastline is the only place in the world where you will see the redwood forest - incredible eh!

Next day we were moving further down the West coast - making our way towards San Francisco (we'll be sure to wear some flowers in our hair, la , la)!
Hello to my Sister Paula who is with my Sister Jen in America also - has there been an evacuation order back in dear old blighty??
