Glacier Country - Ice with that?

Franz Josef and Fox are the two most famous glaciers within the frosty mountainous splendour of Westland National Park! Just what you'd expect, git big cascades of ice tumbling down the valley!

These pictures are of Franz and Maori legend has it that a girl lost her lover after he fell while climbing the local peaks and that her floods of tears eventually froze into a glacier. Good job there were no accidents whilst we lived at Sunnybrow!!

The fourth picture is Lake Matheson, it's a famous postcard shot and if the weather is good the views of Mt Tasman and Mt Cook are reflected beautifully in the water.

The rest of the photos are taken at Fox. We did glacier walks at both sites and both times tearaway Hodgson paid no attention to the roped off sections and the signs advising only experienced climbers to go on!! He declared himself 'experienced' and insisted that I follow along in my flip flops and sequined bag!
