Harwoods Hole

This is another of our 'tramps'. It's one of the 'Lord of the Rings' film locations. The forest was quite spooky and very LORTish!!


This is a view from Harwoods Hole viewpoint - the drop there was a couple of hundred metres!

Notice how Elvis has to sit on the edge for the picture!!


This is the hole itself!! It's runs several hundred metres down through the mountain - a pot holer's dream (but not our cup of tea)!! All the streams that used to run above the surface now go down the hole and re-appear a few miles away at 'PuPu' springs, where the water is so clear (having being filtered by the mountain) it is crystal clear - we visited the springs later the next day.
